Is anti-freeze soaked meat as well hateful of a way to kill?

don't do it... if it's non eaten my money volition be on devious dogs. Wait for your gun or ask help from your neighbours.

A few days agone, some animals (either ii large stray dogs that take been wandering our v-acre patch of wilderness or a pack of coyotes) killed all 12 of my chickens. They just tore them autonomously, didn't even eat them all, simply dismembered them. We don't have a gun yet (yay background checks from our totally fast and efficient regime!) so my parents want to soak some stew meat in antifreeze, put all of our animals inside, and so just leave it out so whatever predators killed our birds swallow information technology and die. Yep, I'm mad equally all get-out at the predators responsible, merely this seems about also hateful... animal control won't come up all the manner out here, so what other options could we take??? Thanks for any ideas.

Remember that stray dogs would not exist the but ones attracted to the meat. If you were to inadvertently kill an eagle or any other protected species you lot could, I'm afraid, exist facing a lot more problem than the loss of your chickens. Many eagles, bears, wildcats, and other animals are just as attracted to that meat smell (and the lovely, sweet taste of the glycol) and in that location's no fashion you could guarantee that the only critters dining on your offer would be your target animals.

Didn't they modify the laws pertaining to the ingredients in antifreeze? Didn't they modify it from ethylene glycol to propylene glycol which is not as toxic? (What used to be chosen animal rubber antifreeze, I believe?)

Anybody else seems to have information technology covered. Don't poison them. Do you have a trail photographic camera? I'1000 sure whatever it is, it'll be back.

They added something to it as well, so it doesn't taste as sweet. But information technology is nevertheless toxic.

Do what you have to do, but I incertitude antifreeze soaked meat volition work. Instead go to your local feed store. If they are worth their table salt they will have the old school leg snap traps and snares. Set these upward in likely areas of intrusion around your belongings (wash the traps and utilise gloves when setting to reduce sent). Bait with meat around the areas. If you get a coyote, impale it and hang the carcass on the debate/border of your property. Truthfully, you did non provide plenty info. If they were killed at night in the coop or run then you need to exercise a meliorate task of protecting them. If they were killed gratis ranging then you need to take the steps I outlined above. They all the same make ethylene glycol and it is still widely bachelor, at that place are many dissimilar types. Honestly if I were going to take the antifreeze route I wouldn't soak meat in information technology I would simply put out a couple bowls of antifreeze effectually my holding where my animals wouldn't go it. A canis familiaris will beverage antifreeze because it tastes sweet at least it used to peradventure it has changed i dont know. I personally would merely shoot them

Ethylene glycol is however made and used for antifreeze. Propylene Glycol is the not toxic chemical used in antifreeze and is the preferred antifreeze.

Like others have said secure your coop and run!!
